AI Translator for Polylang works best with the system WordPress editor (aka Gutenberg) and the Classic editor. With version 1.1.1 Elementor is now supported as experimental functionality. Other builders are not yet officially supported.

Does is support WooCommerce?

WooCommerce support is limited to the Premium version. N.B.: it requires the plugin Polylang for WooCommerce which is maintained by Polylang team.

The free version of AI Translator for Polylang supports ChatGPT from version 3.5 to 4o mini. The premium version adds support for Claude.

Works as advertised, but policies and unresolved issues let it down

The product does what it claims at a basic level. It translates WordPress pages. However, be very careful which plan you purchase and how you intend to scale, because there are several structural issues that have not been resolved despite being raised with the developer. Key issues: Post metadata is not preservedTranslated posts are created with new timestamps instead of inheriting the original publish date. This causes SEO, indexing, and content ordering issues. While the developer added a fix to copy the original author, timestamps still need to be manually corrected for every translated post. This has been reported and the developer response was that their business team has decided translated posts should keep the translation date, which prioritises policy over real-world publishing needs. Translation queue processes newest firstTranslations run from the most recently added item backwards. This means if you keep adding content, older posts never get processed until you stop adding new ones. Chronological processing was requested and declined, even though it would better match how most content teams work. Pricing and upgrade policy is the biggest problemIf your site starts with fewer than 10 languages and you later expand beyond that, the product will not translate the additional languages unless you upgrade to the “Ultimate” plan. If that upgrade happens after 30 days, even by a small margin, you must pay the full price again, including for the first 10 languages you already paid for. I upgraded on day 46 and was required to repurchase everything. There was no pro rata option or flexibility offered. The developer did offer to refund the Ultimate plan, but it comes with the condition that access reverted back to 10 languages. That doesn’t solve the underlying problem if your site legitimately needs more languages, and it effectively leaves you paying twice or being blocked from scaling. For a product with a relatively small customer base, this rigid approach feels unnecessarily punitive and leaves a bad taste. It overshadows what could otherwise be a solid tool. Because of the lack of responsiveness to practical improvement requests and the inflexible pricing policy, I would not recommend this product in its current form. 1 star.

It made publishing the Spanish version of my site so much faster while perfectly preserving the original text structure. I have full control over all content elements, and it comes at a fraction of the price of tools like Weglot. Plus, the support and developers are super responsive and helpful—it’s clear they care. Definitely worth it!
